Two separate projects, both using the body as a musical instrument
Body Of Reverb
This project is the idea of Italian tattooist Michael Servadio, it connects tattooing with “noise” music. The tattoo machine translates the vibrations of the needle through a piezoelectric disk mounted on the actual machine, the sound of the tattoo machine is amplified, creating a connection between the pain the subject is feeling and the actual sound vibration they're hearing. It forms a unique cycle. There is also a sound engineer or musician on hand to manipulate the sounds through synthesizers and effects pedals. The end tattoo is completely random and abstract.
In 2018 he released an album and book with Hexn and Years of Denial capturing two of these rituals. Body of Reverbs has been presented in the form of live performances and installations across the UK, Europe, Asia and America.
Louis Fleischauer
Aesthetic Meat Foundation, with Louis as the ringmaster 'perform rituals turning humans into instruments through body modification, transforming the agony and euphoria of the stage into sonic energy to be devoured by the audience.'
The intention of this project is to create a raw, primal energy that awakens the instincts, to stimulate parts of your brain that have been numbed in our hyper digital, over consumer-friendly surroundings, to shatter the TV-crippled belief system of our so-called "modern world" by introducing apocalyptic art/culture to the mainstream.
The music consists of sounds drawn from the human body, louis' heartbeat during suffocation, brainwaves at the moment of piercing and thereafter, amplified springs that are connected to the skin via hooks, the ultrasonic sound of an embryo, all molded into industrial soundscapes.
They have released around twelve albums in various formats.
